Karen Medellin
Karen has been coaching Level 6-8 Team as well as rec classes at J & R for over two years. Karen has also coached at Bela Karolyi’s summer camp at the official U.S Olympic Training site with advanced-level athletes. Karen trained and competed in gymnastics for 14 years at the State and National level, representing Texas at Level 10. During that time, Karen also competed in TOPs and Elite Programs.
She is a USAG Pro Member and attends GAT training. Karen is currently attending Texas State University pursuing a degree in Exercise and Sports Science.
Karen enjoys teaching the sport because of her love for gymnastics and the kids she coaches. Her goal is to be “able to help my athletes to achieve their goals and help shape them physically and mentally into well-rounded individuals.”

Lauren Hagerty
Lauren graduated from Texas State University in December of 2011, where she earned a Bachelor in Exercise Sports Science, Pre-Physical Therapy. Lauren has been coaching at JandR since 2010.
With 10 years of gymnastics experience, Lauren reached level 9 as a freshman in high school. She qualified for USAG region III championships. She is a USAG Pro Member, USAG first aid basics, USAG pre-school fundamentals theory, and has completed GAT instructor training. Lauren says, she loves working with children and seeing their developmental growth as well as their love for the sport.

Michael Rush
Michael has been a coach at JandR since 2009. Michael is an Alumnus of the University of Hawaii where he received a Bachelor of Art.
Michael has taught gymnastics for over 30 years. Michael has had the opportunity to work for numerous clubs such as Magic Circle Gym, Spring Branch YMCA, Honolulu YMCA, and Laity Lodge Youth Camp. He says he enjoys teaching gymnastics because he wants to give back to children and young adults.
